I’ve loved Dragonfly Farms Nigerian Dwarf goats for almost as long as I’ve raised goats. My first “big” buck purchase was bred by Joanne Karohl, an Incredible Hunk son, and he flew here. Since then, I figured flying was too much of an effort. So, I’ve looked to breeders nearby for bucks to improve the herd.

A few years ago, I spoke to Joanne about bringing in another buck. She mentioned Dragonfly CP Barbary, who at the time had milk records but not a lot to go on. Barbary was a Peregrine daughter and I decided to take a chance. Fast forward a couple of years later and Barbary has matured into an incredible doe!! She is now just shy of Elite, in the 91st percentile! At 9 years old, Barbary has become a finished champion, completing her last 2 legs at the Wildflower Classic!! Quill has been producing some really lovely daughters.

Scroll down to see 2 of Quills daughters by GCH Noall’s Ark Caprice Des Dieux 6*M. More Quill daughters will freshen in 2026. Stay tuned.

Quill was appraised in the fall of 2025. GVE 84. He was coded with carpal hyperextension (CH) on one leg. There are, of course, a ton of differing opinions regarding CH. Some point to genetics and others to mineral deficiencies and still others think both genetics and deficiencies play a role. Injury can also cause the condition. I have spoken to Joanne at Dragonfly about CH and there aren't any animals related to Quill with carpal hyperextension. I'll be the first to admit that I have a terrible time keeping the bucks looking good during rut. I feel like just when I have them looking better in the summer, they are going back in rut. So, for me, mineral deficiencies could be the key factor. Please reach out if you want to discuss.
